Welcome to MJJ Blog Time
Introduction
I created MJJ Web Design as a business in hopes of doing what I enjoy and perhaps make a decent living in the process. Since I enjoy learning, creating websites keeps my mind busy trying to learn everything I can from this seemingly unlimited information base. An example of this is this open source blog site. I am new to PHP and MySQL having created from scratch few working databases with search query strings. This blog uses PHP and a MySQL database to create dynamic HTML pages. The creators have spent thousands of hours putting the code together and making it work well with as many applications as possible. This does not deter me from trying to learn the code and how I can use it in the future. I have moved on to PHP code but am still learning new tricks with the basic browser language HTML. As you can tell, I have created my own theme from scratch and have edited the cascading style sheets to give this blog a unique look. I will perhaps edit the PHP code in the future to allow for more unique features but for now I just want to use it for the purpose it was intended. Though I am somewhat new to the website development industry, I am a very fast learner and know no bounds to what I can achieve given the time and resources.
New Sites
Every new website poses another possible learning experience. I enjoy having challenging projects that force me to learn something new. An example of this is my first MySQL database experience. I needed to create a database and a search query that would extract the information that matches the search query. To make a long story short I had to install a few applications on my home server and through trial and error created a working search and results page. Granted, I did waste a lot of time trying to get the answers I needed from forums, with no luck. Some times you just have to think things through and learn by trial and error. I have learned since then that there are many other tools at my disposal that make SQL queries easier. You can visit this search page at www.jewettconnections.com and see how it works. This experience and many others have added to my abilities but I am always open to new challenges that I can learn from.
